Your Health and You Part 12: How to Prevent Yellow Fever

Yellow fever is an acute and often deadly disease caused by a virus that is transmitted to people through the bite of the female Aedes aegypti mosquito and other mosquito species.

This disease is most common in some parts of Africa and South America. It is characterized by a very high fever and a symptom known as jaundice. i.e, yellowing of the skin and eyes.

Yellow fever can be deadly if neglected or not properly treated. This is why our focus today is on ways to prevent the disease.

Kindly watch the SAWBO animated video on how to prevent yellow fever below for a better understanding of this topic. See also, how to prevent malaria.

Note: Yellow fever is a disease that can affect anyone and about 15% of people infected by yellow fever develop serious illness that can lead to bleeding, shock, organ failure, and sometimes death, so I suggest you pay attention to the information contained here.

Although this disease is treatable, it is also preventable, so it is rather wiser to prevent it than to spend more money in treating it.
